I don't think that's possible to do anymore. Didn't they change the security around on this?

Either pay for the software and get a legitimate license or use OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/)

Stealing software, especially from microsoft, is just not a good idea.

If you don't want to pay for Norton, then there are free programs like AVG to use.

open office is fine for most things and you can find tons of free antivirus software online, even places like aol now have a free antivirus /firewall package .I think its mcafee,

I would get the cheaper versions of office out there, like students version etc.. I wouldn't ever recommend finding a cracked or some pirated version of office with a made up registration number. It can lead to a load of problems with the running of vista, microsoft is master at protecting their software.

open office has been great for me

thanks fellas...like i said not trying to be cheap. but its been a while since i purchased a computer from a retailer. i have a friend who usually builds mine and loads all the software on it. never realized that computers didnt come with this basic software. guess i have been out of touch and lucky my buddy always loaded this stuff when he built mine. was able to touch base with my brother who has a office 03 disk with the code. will try that and see if it works. since i am already robbing mr gates :nopityA:i think i next may stop by his pad and steal a few tvs and cars :toast:

thanks for everyones advice and help on this

Pay for the software. Pirating is illegal. If everyone started paying for it...maybe the price would come down.

Bill: "Damn, Steve, we're making a lot more money than we expected on the new product line."

Steve: "Yeah, we shouldn't be making this much, let's cut our margins a little. *Fires up iMac*"

I thought I read somewhere this week that Google was getting into the software business with some free word processing and speadsheet programs. Might want to follow up on that.

They aren't very good. Just use OpenOffice
